The beginnings as a baker in the family’s shop

Giovanni Rana was still a boy when he started to work with his brothers and sisters in the family’s bakery, which made bread, pasta and cakes. As he grew up, he became more and more interested in the production of fresh pasta, which at the time consisted mostly in traditional tortellini. In particular, Giovanni was engaged in the delivery the product to customers and very soon realized that they sold quite quickly and easily.
Later on, when Rana brothers and sisters decided to part, each of them going their own path, Giovanni chose to devote himself to the preparation and sale of fresh filled pasta.

It was 1961 when, in a small workshop at San Giovanni Lupatoto (a country village not far from Verona), Giovanni Rana began making tortellini, of whose sfoglia and filling he took personal care helped by some ten women.
